Two female directors of European acclaim will be MFF\'s guests this year

Complaints that film is still a men's toy are frequent and definitely not unfounded. This is why Motovun Film Festival proudly announces that two female directors of European acclaim will be its guests this year.

Although two major European festivals were 'raided' by men, two female directors skillfully managed to squeeze among them. In Berlin, Swiss director Ursula Meier won a Silver Bear for her film Sister. It is her second film, the first one to compete in the major league.

In Cannes there was even less space for female authors, to the extent that the striking underrepresentation of women in the main program was often commented during the festival. Among the very few women who came home with awards is Taisia Igumentseva, a student of film at the prestigious VGIK films school in Moscow. Her film, The Road to, won the first prize in Cinefondation program, intended for outstanding achievements of film students – the authors of the 'next generation'.

Both directors and their films are coming to Motovun!
