Actor Zijah Sokolović is this year’s recipient of Cinehill’s 50 Years Award. The honour was presented to him at the festival in recognition of his long-standing contribution to film and theatre and the significant mark he has left on the world of acting.
“From 1967, when he appeared in his first roles, to the present day, he has been tireless in front of the camera, on stages, and in every conceivable aspect of the craft”, said Igor Mirković, Director of Cinehill Festival. Accepting the award, Sokolović thanked the organisers and expressed how much the recognition means to him. “This is one of the most beautiful things that can happen to a person in this line of work”, said the actor.
The award was presented on behalf of the Croatian Film Authors’ and Producers’ Association (DHFA) by Sandra Botica, who highlighted the richness of his body of work. “It is an exceptional honour for me to be able to present this award to Mr Zijah Sokolović”, said Botica, adding that the actor has crafted an impressive career spanning more than 30 feature films and 20 television series.
In honour of this year’s laureate, Cinehill will host a conversation with Sokolović, on Thursday at 17:00, as well as a retrospective of his films The Charm of Bureaucracy, Jasmina, and The Pavilion, giving audiences the opportunity to explore in depth his decades-long artistic work.
