Motovun Film Festival has always passionately followed the films of new and old Scandinavian masters. So it came as no surprise when this year’s Palm d’Or and Best Script at Cannes went to Swedish filmmakers Ruben Östlund and Tarik Saleh. As a logical step forward in the long-standing friendship, this year MFF has partnered with the Swedish Embassy and Swedish Film Institute, and proudly presents the currently most exciting European cinema!
The varied film program offers the opportunity to refresh your knowledge of Swedish film through the works of such greats as Ingmar Bergman, Lukas Moodysson and Roy Andersson, but also the less known gems from the Swedish cinematic treasury.
We have prepared for you an extraordinary audiovisual experience with three musical screenings, each of which uses music in a different way to immerse you into the fascinating and fantastic world of film. You can read more about the films in the rubric In Focus: The Night Is Just Beginning.
Those who want to learn more about the Swedish cinema are invited to meet us for a chat and coffee on Friday on the Hotel Kaštel Terrace. Join us for ‘Fika at Noon‘!
