The Boy and the Heron

After losing his mother in the war, a boy named Mahito moves to the family estate in the countryside. A series of mysterious events leads him to an ancient tower inhabited by a grey heron. Mahito embarks on an epic adventure, following the heron into a fantastical world straddling life and death. The final film by the great Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki, co-founder of the renowned Studio Ghibli, has been hailed as the pinnacle of Miyazaki’s career, which also won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature.
