Kava for us and fika for the Swedes – different names for similar rituals of enjoying a relaxed conversation over a cup of coffee or tea. All of you coffee (and tea) lovers are welcome to Hotel Kaštel Terrace at noon every day of the festival, where we’ll be discussing films while enjoying fika with the authors and programmers. They say fika is impossible to translate – one has to experience it.
On Friday 29 July, we’ll discuss with our Swedish friends the anatomy of the success of Swedish cinema, from its glorious beginnings in the silent era a hundred years ago to the double Palm d’Or success at this year’s Cannes festival.
