It is summer in a small village in south-eastern Spain, where the inhabitants are bracing for a new storm that could cause the river to burst its banks. The impending flood revives the ancient belief, that certain women are fated to vanish with each new torrent, for they carry water within them. Against the charged backdrop of fear and myth, Ana grows up in a household of three women – herself, her mother, and her grandmother.
