Fifteen-year-old Bětka and Alma are best friends spending a boring summer at a lakeside cottage under the supervision of Bětka’s older sister Marie. Alma is just about to leave for school abroad, so the girls want to make the most of their remaining time together, but Marie refuses to let them go to a bar on the opposite shore alone. The hot and lazy days drag on until Alma meets the mysterious Aneta, a girl who has discovered an enigmatic pool on an island in the middle of the lake. Rumor has it that it can take people anywhere in the world, so Alma doesn’t think twice before bravely diving in. The mysterious story of the girls’ coming-of-age and their irresistible desire for escape premiered in the Proxima competition at Karlovy Vary. The film was partially shot in Croatia, in the Istria County.
