The girl from Tehran, Mina, realizes after school that her mother is not waiting for her. The teacher advises her to wait, but an unknown man offers her a ride on his motorcycle, which she declines. She sets off home alone, but she doesn’t know the address. She gets on the bus, but realizes she is going in the wrong direction. When the driver tries to help, Mina interrupts and says she no longer wants to act, and the fiction turns into a film about making a film. Awarded the main prize, the Golden Leopard, at Locarno, the second feature film by the renowned Iranian director Jafar Panahi is a metafilmic work in which the author, through the story of a young protagonist’s journey from school to home, suggestively and effectively portrays life in Iran in the late 90s, blending documentary and fiction.
