Summer 1976. So-called Years of Lead. Ten-year-old Valerio is a timid boy with rich imagination. Their world is turned upside down when Alfonso gets wounded in a terrorist attack, witnessed by Valerio. Once a powerful and untouchable heroic figure, Alfonso becomes vulnerable and insecure, while the feelings of fear and anxiety creep into the family. While his parents are trying to ensure a safe and normal life for their son, Valerio befriends the mysterious and rebellious older boy Christian. Their friendship and world gradually become a world of fantasy. The film is based on a true story from filmmaker Claudio Noce’s childhood. For his role of Alfonso, Pierfrancesco Favino (World War Z, Rush, Angels & Demons) won Best Actor in Venice.
Claudio Noce (1975) is an Italian film director and screenwriter. He started his career by shooting short movies and music videos. In 2005, he won the David di Donatello Award for Best Short Film for Aria. His directorial feature debut, Good Morning, Aman (2009), screened at the International Critics’ Week of the Venice Film Festival. His subsequent film, The Ice Forest (2014), starring Emir Kusturica among others, premiered at the Rome Film Festival. Padrenostro is his third feature film.
