26.7. FRIDAY 21:00 LJETNO ART KINO RIJEKA
Filmmaker Julien Temple chronicles the transformation of a self-described ‘mouthy little git’, born John Mellor, into an anti-establishment icon known to the world as Joe Strummer, the lead singer of the influential punk rock band The Clash. Using campfire interviews as a central motif, reflects Strummer’s love for storytelling around a fire. Friends, family, and bandmates, including Mick Jones and Jim Jarmusch, share their memories around these campfires, providing an intimate and cohesive narrative. Along with interviews, the film combines unseen archival footage and animated sequences to paint a comprehensive picture of Strummer’s impact on music and culture. The documentary premiered at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival and won the British Independent Film Award for Best British Documentary.
