Former professional tennis player Tom now works as a coach at a summer resort in the Canary Islands, where he tries to drown his loneliness in alcohol and fleeting relationships. When Dave and Anne, a seemingly perfect British couple arrive at the resort with their son Anton, Tom feels an inexplicable connection, but also an instinctive distrust, especially after Dave suddenly disappears. With a subtle noir atmosphere under the Spanish sun, hints of a love triangle and disturbing ambiguity, Islands finds its bearings between Patricia Highsmith’s thrillers and Challengers.
