In the adaptation of Keiran Goddard’s novel, Patrick, Shiv, Rian, Oli and Conor grew up in a working-class neighbourhood, played truant together and mapped out their futures. Now in their early thirties, the lives they dreamed of have slipped away. Patrick and Shiv’s relationship is corroded by lies, Oli drowns his troubles in endless parties, Conor anxiously expects his first child, while the affluent Rian cannot outrun the shadows of the past.
