Glastonbury is a mystical, legendary place. The same goes for the festival that is its namesake. Glastonbury by Julien Temple is a documentary that chronicles the evolution of the legendary music festival from its inception in 1970 to 2005, capturing the cultural transitions and experiences of festival-goers. The film includes performances by iconic artists such as Alice Coltraine, David Bowie, Björk, Blur, Joe Strummer, Velvet Underground, New Order and Oasis, to name a few. Incorporating footage from Temple’s own recordings at the festival from 2002 to 2005 and contributions from festival attendees, this vibrant rockumentary captures the spirit and evolution of the festival over three decades. The film premiered at the 2006 Berlinale as part of the Berlinale Special section.
