It’s the late 1990s in post-war Tešanj, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The town’s residents are busy preparing for President Bill Clinton’s visit. The town is flooded with corruption, crime, poverty and prejudice, but they need to create the illusion that everything is fine for the sake of the presidential welcome. The film stars Enis Bešlagić as Faruk, Bogdan Diklić as his father Zaim and Saša Petrović as town mayor Husnija. After winning, among others, the Silver Leopard in Locarno, the awards for Best Debut and Best Director in Sarajevo, and Best Film at the Raindance Film Festival, the most important British independent film festival, Pjer Žalica’s debut feature became Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Oscar contender in the category of Best Foreign Language Film.
