This French-Swiss courtroom comedy-drama centres on Avril Lucciani, a 39-year-old lawyer specialising in animal defence, who goes to great lengths to save her client Cosmos, a dog facing the death penalty for repeated offences. Blending humour with philosophical musings on justice and empathy, we witness Cosmos helping Avril accept her own human complexity. The film premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes where Kodi, a senior stray playing Cosmos, won the Palm Dog award.
