24.7. WEDNESDAY 13:30 CIRKUS FELLINI
Based on a true story, Bingo is a film about Augusto, a struggling actor looking for a place in the spotlight. Following in the footsteps of his mother, a stage artist in the 1950s, while starring in soft porn and soap operas, he finally finds unexpected fame when he is cast as Bingo, a beloved TV show clown. The show is a big hit, but a clause on his contract forbids him from revealing his true identity. The film, noted for its vivid depiction of 1980s Brazilian TV culture, won seven Cinema Brazil awards including the Grand Prix for Best Picture and Best Actor and was Brazil’s submission for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 90th Academy Awards.
