Did you know that owls can see even in the daylight?
From the youngest to the oldest festival-goers, visitors gathered in large numbers to meet Scar, the owl and Braco, the Harris’s hawk, and to discover fascinating facts about these remarkable birds of prey at first hand.
Falconer Emilio Menđušić from the Šibenik Falconry Centre revealed that owls have two ears positioned at different heights, a feature that allows them to locate prey with extraordinary precision – even underneath the snow. Visitors also learned that owls can still see in the daylight, and were particularly delighted by a demonstration showing that, thanks to a special protective layer, their feathers absorb almost no water. The bravest among them had the chance to hand-feed the hawk Braco without a protective glove.
Alongside a wealth of fascinating facts, the time spent with Scar and Braco left a lasting impression on many visitors, with the youngest knowledge-seekers having their photos taken with these magnificent birds.
