In 1992 Chile, nine-year-old Inés is staying with her grandparents at their hotel near an Andean ski resort. There she befriends Hanna, a gifted young German skier – until one day Hanna abruptly vanishes. Inés grows up in a world of enforced silences, haunted by her friend’s disappearance. Though she may have been one of the last people to see her, her grandmother forbids her to say anything so as not to scare off foreign tourists.
