Thirteen-year-old Nino gets her first period on the day of a big swimming race. Her body gives her a surprise as she is standing at the edge of the pool, ready to start, so her coach Gia, a forty-year-old man, decides to exclude her from the competition. His colleagues take advantage of the situation to once again criticise the “weaknesses” of the female body in sports. Betrayed by her coach and her own body, but also faced with ambivalent feelings, she decides to stand up for herself and reassess the limits that others impose on her. Inhale is a tribute to the fragile but powerful teenage years.
