Alice calls her mother’s work propaganda, while Zhanna believes she is working for the good of her country. As a correspondent for the state-run Russian television, Zhanna’s job is to shape the image of the world according to the Kremlin’s wishes. As her teenage daughter shows little connectedness with her Russian identity, Zhanna takes her on a journey across the largest country in the world to bring her closer to her roots. As they make their way across Putin’s Russia, Zhanna increasingly has to confront her own past and identity, with the invasion of Ukraine looming in the background.
