After a daring escape from the brutality of an industrial farm, a lone hen finds refuge in the courtyard of a crumbling family restaurant. There she navigates the treacherous animal pecking order and desperately fights to protect her eggs from the restaurant’s owner – the darkly comic struggle for motherhood mirrors the human dramas and moral failures of the family entangled in a people-smuggling ring.
