Marking the premiere will be the program Day and Night of Idijoti. Taking place on Friday 26 July, the program will feature the presentation of the book Život s Idijotima by Nenad Marijanović a.k.a. Dr. Fric, a concert of Sale Veruda and his band Saša 21 and a few more musical surprises fit for this exceptional event.
Joe Strummer or Che Guevara of the Balkans, the greatest front man of the ex-YU rock scene, a diehard antifascist, a champion of workers’ rights and an outstanding personality. This region has never seen any other musical icon that has outgrown the music as such, becoming a symbol of common sense and free thinking, both in the days of the “ancien régime” and in the “democracy”. When everyone else kept silent, Tusta and KUD Idijoti spoke up and were therefore persecuted, ignored, banned. No other band in the region was so influential in terms of ideas and idealism over a period of three decades and in two different states. Focusing on the eventful career of the charismatic champion of freedom, the film depicts a true rock-and-roll story. It speaks to all of us who remember and believe that the world can be a better place. This documentary film follows the “people from the underground” who truly lived and breathed punk rock and tells us about an advocate of freedom who, with his arms high, is still singing Bandiera Rossa somewhere beyond, knowing that nobody can take his attitude away from him, not even there.
Andrej Korovljev, director
The film was co-written and edited by Vesna Biljan Pušić, shot by Goran Legović and produced by Nenad Puhovski and his Factum.
