There is a city where night clubs are easier to enter than to leave. It is so easy to dive into their spaces, sounds and crowds. In addition to many other distinguishing features, Berlin – this year’s Partner City of Motovun Film Festival – boasts its electronic music scene. Its almost 30-year-long tradition makes it the capital of techno music. Parties sometimes last for days and the clubs – from the legendary Tresor to the most popular Berghain, where people stand in lines for hours to get in – attract partygoers from all over the world.
This is the place where Ian Pooley lives and works. On the MFF closing night on 28 July, one of the best-known house producers in the world will conjure up the spirit of the best Berlin clubs. Motovun Square will turn into a huge dancing floor that night. Two decades of Pooley’s productive career, appearances around the world, numerous own releases and remixes for performers like Daft Punk, Deee-Lite and Carl Cox are a guarantee of a true dance magic in the medieval setting of Motovun Square. Still appreciated by his audience after all these years, Pooley keeps releasing new material, enriching his sound with new trends.
In Motovun, he will perform together with his friend Felver, a pioneer of Croatian electro scene and its doyen for more than 25 years. In addition to his countless appearances with Pooley, Felver has performed with other Berlin DJs, like Dixon, who regularly ranks among top DJs in the world. It was the acclaimed and very popular Berlin parties that inspired the two of them to launch Stereotip parties in Zagreb, also very popular. No wonder Felver is one of Croatia’s long-lived and favorite DJs.
