From 21 to 26 July, Fu\u017eine become the most exciting summer stage in the country \u2022 Alongside rich film and side programs, visitors can look forward to social events and talks with renowned filmmakers and artists<\/b><\/p>\n\n
Just one week to go before Cinehill rolls out its unique green carpet in Fu\u017eine once again. From 21 to 26 July, in the festival\u2019s traditionally informal setting, it will receive a myriad of celebrated guests from the world of film and the arts. Alongside around a hundred exciting titles in the film program, Fu\u017eine will welcome almost as many artists from across the world, who will take part in accompanying events and audience meet-and-greets. <\/span>

\n<\/span>The festival\u2019s guest of honour, who will receive the Maverick Award for outstanding contribution to cinematic art, is the celebrated Oscar winner <\/span>Edward Berger<\/b>, director of the award-winning titles <\/span>All Quiet on the Western Front<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>Conclave<\/span><\/i>, and <\/span>Jack<\/span><\/i> \u2014 all of which will be screened in Fu\u017eine. A retrospective of landmark works will also be devoted to a living acting legend of the region, <\/span>Zijah Sokolovi\u0107<\/b>, who will receive Cinehill\u2019s award for 50 years of contribution to the world of film. Screening in the program devoted to him are <\/span>The Charm of Bureaucracy<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>Jasmina<\/span><\/i>, and <\/span>The Pavilion<\/span><\/i>.<\/span>

\n<\/span>The jury of this year\u2019s main competition is equally impressive, and includes <\/span>Igor \u0160eregi<\/b>, director of the biggest regional hit of all time, <\/span>The Wedding<\/span><\/i>, which will also be presented to Fu\u017eine audiences. Joining him in choosing the best films are acclaimed Serbian producer <\/span>Sne\u017eana van Houwelingen<\/b>, Montenegrin director <\/span>Marija Perovi\u0107<\/b>, and Palestinian producer <\/span>Baher Agbariya<\/b>, whose title will appear in the main competition. <\/span>The Sea<\/span><\/i>, which he made with Israeli director <\/span>Shai Carmeli-Pollak<\/b>, has come under fire from the Netanyahu government \u2014 despite being made, in the director\u2019s own words, from a perspective of humanity and compassion.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>Celebrated Slovenian director <\/span>Damjan Kozole<\/b> returns to Cinehill with his <\/span>OHO Film<\/span><\/i>, and also as a member of the short film program CineCorto jury, alongside Montenegrin screenwriter <\/span>Ana Vujadinovi\u0107<\/b> and Italian director <\/span>Aldo Iuliano<\/b>.<\/span> Part of the program will likewise be devoted to Greenland as a new global flashpoint, while arriving from that island is Danish MP and activist <\/span>Aaja Chemnitz<\/b>, who will speak about the challenges of living in a country on which powerful forces have set their sights. From Canada, marketing specialists <\/span>Ru\u017ea Vrdoljak Li\u010dina<\/b> and <\/span>Boris Li\u010dina<\/b> arrive to present the newly founded Cinema Shift Festival, dedicated to films made with the help of artificial intelligence.<\/span><\/p>\n\n Returning to the festival once again are the most celebrated names in regional cinema, <\/span>Goran Markovi\u0107<\/b> and <\/span>Rajko Grli\u0107<\/b>, legendary directors who will present their joint book <\/span>Did You Film This?<\/span><\/i>. The presence of the region\u2019s leading filmmakers will also be an occasion for the panel titled <\/span>How to Make a Regional Hit<\/span><\/i>.<\/span> Also chilling in the shade of Gorski Kotar will be writer <\/span>Monika Herceg<\/b>, this time in her role as the director of the short film <\/span>Joso<\/span><\/i>. The singer <\/span>Tatjana Cameron \u2013 Taj\u010di<\/b>, who took part in the making of the short film <\/span>The Look Was Everything<\/span><\/i>, directed by <\/span>Blais Cameron<\/b>, will be at the festival supporting her son. The young American filmmaker will introduce himself to audiences after the screening of his film in the CineCorto program.<\/span>

\n<\/span>On the music front, the sharp social commentary of the popular <\/span>Vojko V<\/b> will be on offer, along with sets from the bands <\/span>Idu Hobiti<\/b> and <\/span>Cura i de\u010dko<\/b>, and DJs <\/span>Mario Kova\u010d<\/b>, <\/span>Felver<\/b>, and others. As ever, Cinehill\u2019s ambassador <\/span>Morana Zibar<\/b> is preparing her film quiz and will take part in other side events. The birds of prey are also perennial favourites at the festival \u2014 this year those guests are the owl <\/span>Scar<\/b> and the hawk <\/span>Braco<\/b> from the \u0160ibenik Falconry Centre.<\/span><\/p>\n\n In a perfect and fulfilling escape from the city heat, the enchanting atmosphere of Fu\u017eine is ready for another laidback yet artistically exhilarating summer \u2013 filled with unmissable stories.

\n<\/span>An impressive delegation is also arriving from Montenegro, this year\u2019s Cinehill partner country, including <\/span>Milivoje Obradovi\u0107<\/b> and <\/span>Goran Stankovi\u0107<\/b>, whose acclaimed films <\/span>15 and a Half<\/span><\/i> and <\/span>Our Father<\/span><\/i> are screening in the main competition. Renowned names are coming from North Macedonia as well, with celebrated director <\/span>Teona Strugar Mitevska<\/b> who will present her latest film <\/span>Mother<\/span><\/i>, exploring the other side of the myth about Mother Teresa, alongside the film\u2019s producer and actress <\/span>Labina Mitevska<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Presenting in person their films in Cinehill\u2019s main competition are also directors <\/span>Piotr Domalewski<\/b> (<\/span>The Altar Boys<\/span><\/i>), <\/span>Anke Blond\u00e9<\/b> (<\/span>Dust<\/span><\/i>), <\/span>\u017diga Virc<\/b> (<\/span>Stealing Land<\/span><\/i>), and <\/span>Igor Jelinovi\u0107<\/b> alongside actress <\/span>Snje\u017eana Sinov\u010di\u0107 \u0160i\u0161kov<\/b> (<\/span>Honey Bunny<\/span><\/i>). In addition, some twenty directors, actors, and promotors will present short films in the CineCorto program, including Croatian director <\/span>Zvonimir Juri\u0107<\/b> with his title <\/span>Early Spring<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n
