The year is 1992, and the now-famous director Pawel Pawlikowski is filming the siege of Sarajevo. He avoids the usual clich\u00e9s of war reporting, instead focusing on criminals who seem unusually happy to be in front of the cameras. In the company of Radovan Karad\u017ei\u0107, Mom\u010dilo Kraji\u0161nik, Ratko Mladi\u0107, and Biljana Plav\u0161i\u0107, there is also the Russian beatnik, dissident, and former darling of Western publishers, Eduard Limonov, whose image will be forever changed by scenes of him shooting at Sarajevo.
