Thirty-seven years after her daughter was executed in Iran, Haleh lives in Holland and has a successful career as a scientist. Her life changes fundamentally when she meets Leyla, the woman she believes informed on her daughter. Although Haleh never saw the woman, she is convinced she can recognize her voice. But Leyla herself has become mother in the meantime and befriends Haleh, who doesn\u2019t want to miss the opportunity for revenge. Modiri\u2019s adaptation of his own novel is an impressive combination of a political thriller and moving drama about motherhood. Kaweh Modiri (1982) <\/strong>is a Dutch writer-director of Iranian descent. He majored in Theatre Studies at the University of Amsterdam and graduated from the Image & Language department at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy. His debut feature Bodkin Ras<\/em> (2016) won the FIPRESCI prizes in Rotterdam and at the Viennale, going on to screen at the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas.
