One of the most important European films this season, Agnieszka Holland’s latest feature follows a family of refugees from Syria, an English teacher from Afghanistan and a border guard who meet in the middle of the refugee crisis in no-man’s land on the border between Poland and Belarus. The film provoked the anger of the ultra-conservative government and its ministers in Poland and became an instant hit at the box office.
