The fictional small town of Bacurau set in a near-future Brazil faces sinister events following the death of its matriarch Carmelita. The town’s residents discover that their community has been erased from maps, its water and phone service cut off and they are under attack from a group of mercenaries led by Michael (Udo Kier). The film is a unique blend of neo-Western, siege thriller, and dystopian sci-fi.
