On the beaches of Kenya they’re known as “sugar mamas” — European women who seek out African boys selling love to earn a living. Teresa, a 50-year-old Austrian, travels to this vacation paradise, moving from beach to beach, from one disappointment to another. The first part of Seidl’s Paradise trilogy tells us about sex tourism, older women and young men, Europe and Africa, power relations, and the exploited, who have no choice but to exploit others.

Ulrich Seidl is an Austrian screenwriter and filmmaker. He began his career as an awarded documentarist.  Best known by his films Dog Days (Venice 2001 – special jury award), Import/Export (2007) and the particularly acclaimed Paradise trilogy.
