Motovun Film Festival 2020 will be supported by Creative Europe’s MEDIA Subprogram, designed by the European Commission to support festivals and film projects.
MFF will thus become one of 37 film festivals selected via calls for proposals.
Creative Europe is Europe’s leading fund for supporting the film festivals the programs of which are primarily oriented to European film production, while encouraging the geographic and cultural diversity of film at the same time. The subprogram is particularly designed for the events intended for developing audiences and stimulating interest in European films and increasing their availability.
Creative Europe MEDIA Fund was established in 2007 and Motovun Film Festival was the first Croatian festival to receive its support. The amount of this year’s support is EUR 27,000.
Among other things, the rationale for the support says that:
The festival attracts an important audience to a small town, creating an impact in the region. The main part of the program is European and there is a focus on non-national and low audiovisual production capacity films. The team is solid and experienced. The festival recently joined the EFA short film network and through this has a number of international collaborations.
