The winners of the 50th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival were proclaimed Saturday, 11 July. Among them is the German-Kosovar film Babai you will have an opportunity to see in Motovun Film Festival's main program this year.
The five-member jury (Tim League, Angelina Nikonova, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Hengameh Panahi and OndÅ™ej Zach) proclaimed Visar Morina the best director and the film won Europa Cinemas Label Jury Award, given to Best European Film in Official Selection.
This feature debut of a talented Kosovar filmmaker very skillfully depicts the complex emotions of a child and the sad fate of illegal immigrants. The story of ten-year-old Nori takes place in Kosovo, in Germany, and on the road between the two countries. His father Gezim dominates Nori's entire world. One day, in search for a better life, Gezim leaves for work in the ‘West’. Nori cannot accept his absence.
